Visit to Bar Council Malaysia (BCM) - 25th November 2004

On 25 November 2004, BIM Chairmen, Hjh. Ungku Anna made a visit to the Bar Council Malaysia (BCM). At the BCM Secretariat the issues discussed were as follows:

  • To encourage more members of BCM to serve in BIM sub committee raised.
  • To constantly provide articles and write-ups for BIM publications
  • To provide a platform for member institution secretariat to meet for networking purposes and to foster relationship and enhance effectiveness in task undertakings
  • To prepare a memorandom to highlight issues on service tax for presentation to the Minister of Finance and subsequently to the Cabinet
  • To check and to protect the local professionals on confronting the influx of foreign professionals through the Parliament Act
  • To guide the establishment of the Boards for other member institutions and professions
  • To conduct a through study especially on the stand of the government on full regulation of the professions in confirming to the WTO requirement
  • To compile the professional issues affecting the members as the agenda on the courtesy visit to the BIM Patron
  • To focus and tackle one major common issue, like the service tax which will help greatly the individual professional and at the same time boosting the moral of the member institutions
  • To establish a panel to prepare a recommendation for implementation on teething issues of promotion of the mediation in legal
