TrainingObjectiveThe Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia Education Fund was established on 1st. January 1978 with the objective of providing financial assistance to needy Malaysian students and scholars in their pursuit of higher qualification and grants for seminars, conferences, research and other related educational activities. ManagementThe Education Fund is administered by the BIM Board of Management, while the Education Sub-Committee, appointed by the Board, process application and makes its recommendations to the Board for final selection and approval of candidates and applicants. All institutions of higher learning in the country are notified of the availability of the interest-free loans prior to the commencement of each academic year. The information is duly disseminated to the students through the respective university authorities. CandidatesThe selection of candidates is based on their academic performance, course of study must relate to any one profession that is represented in the BIM. The candidates must be Malaysian citizens and have not obtained other grants. Consideration is also given to other factors like the spread of university, race, sex, profession, etc. LoansThe Education Fund has given more than RM180,000 worth of interest-free loans to about 67 students in the field of engineers, medicine, pharmacy, food science, chemistry, housing, building and planning, veterinary science, agricultural science, surveying, and dentistry, among others.
