NEW DATES FOR COMMONWEALTH GRADUATES CONVENTION (CGC)
New dates have been fixed for the Commonwealth Graduates Convention (CGC). This follows the meeting of the BIM Professional & Academic Association (BPAC) attended by 60 VCs and academicians from 56 universities held on 6 March 2012.
According to Ms Khoo Cheng Gaik, a Past President of the University of Hull Alumni Malaysia (UHAM), who made the presentation about CGC (see picture above), the postponement was to give more time to create better awareness amongst the universities and their alumni so that they can participate as Joint sponsors.
The main purpose of the CGC was to facilitate the gathering of alumni from all universities in all the 53 Commonwealth countries and give them a regular platform to meet socially and generate business opportunities. YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia and also an alumni of the Nottingham University, has consented to be the Patron for this CGC. More
PROTEM COMMITTEE TO FORM COMMONWEALTH GRADUATES ASSOCIATION (CGA)
A Protem Committee has been set-up to form the Commonwealth Graduates Association (CGA). This follows the first meeting of the BIM- Professional & Academic Council (BPAC) on 6 March at the Semarak Campus of the Universiti Technologi Malaysia. Most of the 56 academicians present agree that the formation of the CGA will be beneficial to the development of education and alumni activities in Malaysia.
BIM was encouraged to sponsor this CGA and those present at the meeting offered themselves to be the first members of CGA and to serve in the Protem Committee.
This decision was made after Mr Sivanesan, advocate and solicitor of Malaya, and Hon. Secretary of the University of Hull Alumni Malaysia made a presentation of the proposed name and constitution of the CGA to all present (See above the photo of Mr Sivanesan ). He said that a group of alumni from various universities have been meeting on a number of occasions to deliberate on the proposed constitution, now in its forth draft. More
