Dato' (Dr) Mohamed Ishak bin Haji Mohamed Ariff (1990-1992)

Dato' (Dr) Haji Mohamed Ishak bin Haji Mohamed Ariff qualified as a Professional Chartered Town Planner in 1964 and as a Professional Landscape Architect in 1973 from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. He became the Assistant Director of the Federal Territory Town Planning Department for the states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Selangor and promoted to Director General of the Federal Department of Town and Country Planning Malaysia in 1986. He retired from this position in mid 1993. He was honoured by the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England with the Honorary Degree of Doctor in Civil Law in May 1993, this being the first award given by the University to a Malaysian. He is the Chairman of Metacorp Berhad, Metramac Corporation Sdn.Bhd, Yee Lee Corporation Berhad and Intria Berhad and Board Member of Kuala Lumpur Mutual Fund Berhad, Fiber Group Berhad, Gelari Shah Alam, Prolink Development Sdn Bhd, MIMA Enterprise Holdings Sdn Bhd and P & D Consultant Sdn Bhd. He is also being appointed as a Member of Advisory Board of the City of Kuala Lumpur.

Dato' (Dr) Haji Mohamed Ishak bin Haji Mohamed Ariff has an impressive and proven record of work contributions as Director-General of the Federal Department of Town and Country Planning Malaysia especially in the physical planning and landscaping.

As Chairman of BIM, he has very active in monitoring the prospects of developing the land in Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur. He realised that with properties in hand, B1M could be self-financing in its operations due to the possible rental rates collected monthly.
